Putin Backs Bush

Putin Backs Bush

George Bush has received the endorsement of Vladimir Putin for reelection. That's interesting, no? Putin has not supported us in Iraq (or Iran, for that matter) and recently introduced "reforms" in Russia that strengthened the central government, at the expense of democracy, a move Bush remained largely silent about. I'm not sure the endorsement of a former KGB head who is reversing 15 years of democratic reform in Russia is really what Bush needs.

Comment I think almost by default a Democratic administration will pursue terrorists more vigorously and effectively than the Bush administration has. As I have pointed out in previous posts, Bush has been a miserable failure in fighting terrorism, from his failure to capture bin-Laden, to his failure to capture or even attempt to capture al-Zarqawi in Iraq before the war, to his failure to do anything to secure this country's ports, chemical plants, and nuclear facilities, to his failure to secure nuclear material at Iraq's facilities after we over ran that country. The list of failures or ignored opportunities goes on and on and the list of successes is meager.

Comment The terrorists should remember a message to them from John Edwards during his speech at the Democratic Convention "You cannot run. You cannot hide. We will destroy you" So no one should think a Democratic victory means any win by the terrorists. So in this regard, this is probably good for Bush. Any hint that terrorist will interpret a Bush defeat this way will probably help Bush.
