Not Quite What We'd Hoped For

One of the pillars of Bush's justification for the war in Iraq has been that the road to peace in Israel runs through Baghdad (or something like that). An Iraq friendly to Israeli interests, so the thinking goes, makes a safer Israel. Problem is, it doesn't seem to be panning out quite that way. In this AP story, a former leader in the Iraqi National Congress has been indicted in an Iraqi court for visiting the "enemy state" of Israel.

Doesn't sound as if the new Iraqi government is much more Israel-friendly than the old one.
